Success Stories

The following are examples of work we have done over the past years. There are many other examples but these reflrct a cross section.

Case Study. A well established trading company had relied on the internal and external accountants for many years and only discovered something was wrong when the accountant started bouncing cheques on them. An investigation by us showed that the accounts for the past years had been materially incorrect and the accounting systems (although using Sage) had been set up incorrectly and negligently. We sorted out and redrafted the accounts, arranged for the accountant to be dismissed as well as the external reporting accountants and recommended financial claims for recovery of losses. The systems were completely overhauled and junior staff trained to do the work far cheaper and more efficiently than the previous expensive in house accountant. The company's bank borrowing was restructured and the directors were further trained in overseeing the pulse points of the business.

Case Study. A company involved in producing a "Defence Product" had been trying to capitalise on it for years but had failed because of the involvement of opportunist potential investors coupled with a poor marketing plan. We became involved, rationalised the product range, facilitated a substantial foreign order and successfully sold the company for a significant sum plus "earn out".

Case Study. An Independent school had an archaic accounting system with poor credit control, non existent personnel systems and no financial planning. After our involvement the school now has first class accounting systems and as a result of the tight financial planning and planned capital expansion now has several millions of pounds worth of new buildings and computer systems.

Case Study. We acted in the case of a large builder's merchant which was a wholly owned loss making subsidiary of a publicly quoted company. We were instructed to either "tidy up" the builder's merchant for liquidation or for sale. After 9 months the company was back in profit and sold successfully by the public company to another national chain.

Case Study. We were employed to sell a manufacturing company where the FD's presence had been intermittent for some months due to family issues. On investigation it was found that the basic accounting records were inaccurate and no meaningful financial information was being generated. The FD's assistant was keen, enthusiastic and wanting to learn. We guided her in the work to be done. The accounting records were sorted and better management controls introduced. Such was the success of her work that the business was sold after being subject to an in-depth due diligence review by one of the large accountancy practices.
